PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE – RELAY vs CONTACTOR

⚙️ Relay vs Contactor – What’s the Difference?
Both relays and contacts are electrically operated switching devices, but they are commonly used in different applications.

🔹 Relay
Generally used for control and signal switching.

Examples:
– Interlocking
– Signal switching
– Control logic
– Switching smaller loads

🔹 Contactor
Generally used for switching higher-power loads.

Examples:
– Motors
– Heaters
– Pumps
– Industrial equipment

One easy way to remember it:
👉 Relay = mainly control and signal applications
👉 Contactor = commonly used for power switching

However, the actual selection should always based on the load, voltage, current, utilisation category and application.

Don’t select a component based on the appearance alone.

If you’re unsure whether you need a relay or contactor, send us your application details and we can help you check.
